mIRC Tutorial
IRC is currently one of the most popular chatting
services. Their are many clients out but we reccomend mIRC from www.mirc.com.
In this section you will find a short tutorial to familarize you with the IRC
"lanquage". In this tutorial we will be using the AnimeZen server and our own
IRC chat channel.
When you start up mIRC the mIRC options window
will pop-up. You can set your Nick your Full Name your E-Mail address and an
alternate nick from there. When you are done with that you must click Add by
the IRC server menu. The mIRC add server window will pop-up you can make the
description anything you want and the irc server for this tutorial is animeland.net.
Leave the ports alone the group alone and the password box alone, hit add, and
now it is on your server list. Make sure the animeland.net server is selected
and hit connect to server. The loading text will pop-up when it is done you
can type /join #zenspot to get to our IRC channel.
Now that you are connected to the server and in a channel you will need a list
of commands to become more fluint with IRC. These are some of the basic commands:
To join a channel type: /join #channel (replace
#channel with the channel name)
To change your nick type: /nick newnick (replace newnick with the nick you desire)
To talk in the third person type: /me then what you want to say.
Example: /me says that you need to go home = anime says that you need to go
home.
In order to register a channel type: /msg chanserv register #channel password
description (password= password you desire for the channel. descriptioon= description
that will appear in the title box)
*Reminder you must first register your nick!!!*

password you desire for your nick)
To leave a channel type: /leave
To disconnect type: /disconnect
To connect type: /connect
To set away type: /away
To set modes type: /mode #channel +/- then mode you want to set (do not play
around with this unless you know what you are doing.)

Next, some of the browsers are not compatible
with the applets that are used on some sites. The older versions of Netscape
usually are not and even some of the newer version. If you are not using mIRC
we reccomend that you use Internet Explorer. Also AOL is not compatible with
the applets used on sites. If you are looking for an example of one of the most
common applets used you can see ours.
Some good anime channels to use when you are
new to mIRC:
#zenspot
#dbzirc
#dbzleech
#animevids
#animempeg
#anime-hotel
#animedia
